The Product Becomes The Prototype;
The Process Repeats.
A cumulative outlet for Cameron Filiau’s creativity, Proto.Style has gone through various incarnations as a loosely defined brand with one steadfast belief that there is creative freedom in the process of progress.
After its namesake, the output from Proto.Style self defines itself as intrinsically prototypical; Not an excuse for poor craft, but a celebration of the things learned along the way and a challenge to continue pushing creative boundries.
Proto.Style strongly opposes the use of generative AI tools.
Machine learning systems in data science industries equip professionals with the ability to process information in new ways that would otherwise require unreasonable amounts of human effort, if possible at all. This type of data processing could help expedite or outright enable the development of new drugs, find patterns in global climate change, or help broaden our understanding of our place in time and space. Utilizing private and consenting data pools or universally observable information, these are tools to aid professionals, not replace them.
Generative Artificial Intelligence models designed specifically to produce 2D artwork and animation, 3D models and animation, Music, or replicate the likeness of real people in any way are inherently unethical. These systems require an enormous amount of resources to operate, are entirely dependent on unlicensed copyrighted work for model training, and actively take paid work away from professional artists.
There are no acceptable use cases for Generative AI artwork.
